WS2200 - WS7000 - WS7001 database logger
(La Crosse Technology weather stations)
Description
The database logger records data from the weather station to a database.
Supported weather stations are: La Crosse Technology WS2200, WS7000 and WS7001.
You need the WS7000-13 PC Interface Receiver connected to your PC.
This is a console application.
Installation
Download and execute ws7000_database_logger_v1.01.exe.
Warning: installing the software over an existing installation, overwrites the MS Access database. Do a copy of the MS Access database before a new installation.
Configuration
You can modify following parameters:
- The COM Port (default: COM1).
- The recording period (default: 6 minutes).
- The altitude (default: 250 meters).
- The rain counter capacity (default: 370ml).
- The database configuration (default: installed Microsoft Access database).
To modify one of these parameters, open the WS7000.ini file from the Start menu.
- Port is the serial port connected to the weather station. Put COM1 or COM2, COM3...
The standard setting is COM1
- Period is the period (minutes) to read the weather station (this is not the time period at which the weather station is recording).
This time should be lower or equals to the weather station recording period. If no data is available from the weather station, the database is not updated.
The standard setting is 6
- Altitude is the weather station altitude (meters). This parameters corrects the pressure (for no pressure correction, set Altitude=0).
There is no standard setting for this parameter.
- RainCounterCapacity is the "Rainfall per collector" (ml).
To record the Rainfall collector MOVEMENT (integer), set RainCounterCapacity=-1
The standard setting is 370
- DSN is the ODBC path to your database. Change this parameter only if you know why you need to. Note: %InstallPath% is the ws7000.exe file path.
The standard setting is DSN=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=%InstallPath%\DB\Weather.mdb
You can download the default INI file to restore default parameters.
Database backup
A backup (weather.mdb.bak) of the MS database is done every 1000 records.
Compatibility
Developped and tested on Windows 2000, but should work on NT, Me and XP (always test the demo version before register).
I don't know if the software runs on Windows 95 and Windows 98... (let me know if you try)
History
1.01: better initialization
1.0: initial version
Registration
The demo version allows only 1000 records. To register, previously send a mail to preverdy@hotmail.com. The registration costs 15 euros (by paypal only).
Note: be sure to test the demo version before registration (even if you want to run the software with a WS2200, WS7000 or a WS7001 weather station on Windows 2000), no refund will be done in any case.
